Default Interview Help Please.

Hi there,
I submitted application for my spouse in December 2002. His medical
was done 2 months before the interview. His interview was in May. He
attended the interview. He was not told anything specific / concrete
dates at the time of interview. This immigration interview was in
India and he is Indian National. I want to know how long he has to
wait to get the papers. I am not sure if he is supposed to get the
immigration papers at the time of interview or not.

I would very much appreciate response on this. Thanks a lot in
advance.

Swarna.

No, he was not supposed to get his papers at the interview at all. Interview
was just one of the stages of the process - in spousal cases it is usually
conducted to verify claims about relationship and to determine if marriage
is a bona fide one, or just a marriage of convenience for the purpose of
immigration. Your spouse should tell you how it went, what he was asked and
what he was told.

Thanks Mr.Miller,
His interview went well. He was interviewed for about 15 mins. He was
asked to leave the passport and the passport size photos. He was also
told that he would receive everthing in mail. He was not told when the
next communication he would receive. He asked specifically and was not
given any date or how long he might have to wait. I would very much
appreciate if you could shed some light on "How long he has to wait to
receive the papers?"

Thanks again,
Swarna.

Fact that he was asked to leave passport proves nothing - he still may be
refused. How long for decision after the interview? Hard to say, but 2 to 5+
months would be the average time frame.
