Folks, can you say which method is preferred? Now that the rules have changed, and spouses can get an open work permit whist waiting on final approval of PR, I would like to know which stream is better. I am a Canadian PR and wish to apply for my spouse. We very recently moved back to Canada, so currently not working as yet.

Should I apply inbound and apply for the work permit whilst final approval comes through? If yes, how long does it take to get the open work permit? Also, what are the disadvantages of applying inbound - is this process more complicated than applying outbound?

Should I apply outbound - what is the approximate processing time right now? Disadvantage(s)?

I'm on my phone so it's not easy to post links, but a quick search of the Wiki will bring them up. Just put 'spousal sponsorship' or something similar in to the search box.
