Hi,

It took me a while but the wife has finally come around to the prospect of moving permanently to Canada, and as the kids (now) and I are all Canadian citizens, we have to go down the PR route for her. I got a clean police record for her a few months ago to accompany her application (which we are now about to send off), but does it have a use-by date, ie, will we have to get another one issued that is right up to date? Also, as we lived in the UK for about 7 years, will we also have to get the same report from the UK police? Many thanks

It must be less than 3 months old when submitted, so yes, you'll need a new one. And you need a police check for any country that she's lived in for 6 months or more since the age of 18, so yes, she'll need one for the UK.

So how does this work once you are in Canada on a TWP?

Say you apply for PR more than 3 months after leaving the UK. Do you still apply for a new UK police check? That doesn't make sense to me... would you apply for a Canadian police check?

Thanks for that - I'm sure this has also been asked and answered many times before (but I think there may have been a change recently?) - to where do I send the request for the police record for the UK? We lived in London all that time, if that makes any difference. Thanks again

Does the police report have to be from within the last three months for any type of Canadian visa? It's one of the things I wanted to get done in advance of applying for IEC next year.
