My problem started with the application of the PR card. My first name
was erroneously entered in the FLAG name column of the ROL. So my
application was sent back and I was told to get it corrected via IMM
1436 (Amendment to the Record of Landing). So ALL my original
documents - passport, landing paper, birth certificate, was sent to
CIC in Ottawa to get the error on the ROL fixed. I was told it will
take 7 weeks to process, but now it has been 11 weeks and they still
have not returned my documents to me (it wasn't lost in the mail, I
checked). I have made travelling arrangements to the US for next week
and am thus stuck. I have never been without my principle documents
for so long in my life.

Does anybody have any idea/experience on how long this application
actually takes? I don't want my summer travel plans ruined because
they made a mistake typing on my ROL (exactly what the PR card lady
told me before she returned the documents to me).

Does anybody have any ideas on how what I can do?! I am almost
deciding to cancel the application and resubmit after my trip and when
I don't need to travel for a bit (or just live without my first
name!). Will cancelling the application allow them to return my
documents to me within a week?!
