Default HELP WITH IMM 5490 Question 8

Sorry, i need advise on question q.8 of sponsored spouse/partner questionnaire.

q.8 Do you have family members or relatives (i.e aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.) living in Canada.

My common-law partner (sponsor) and our two kids live in Canada. Would I put their names down as family members under this question? They are all Canadian citizens.

Hi
If the application is being done to sponsor you by your partner, then I assume it would be down to her to complete. If it is your application then you would put in those details and she is not a relative....I think that that would be needed to prove you have family links to Canada. Or to gain the points for having family there. As this is a sponsorship application, I would include a letter confirming your family details stating that they are in Canada and that she is sponsoring you
If I have got this wrong...someone will come along to say soon...just trying to help with my limited understanding.
lol

Thanks for your reply. This is the form that is part of the PR application. It's to be completed by the one who is being sponsored. The immigrant guide doesn't help much. I guess its best to include them than not to include them.

Here's what we did. Every time we weren't sure on something we a) called the CIC and asked (phone number on their website) and b) wrote in "see attached page titled xyz" and on that attached page, wrote an explanation.

For example, you could write something like "I was unsure from the wording of the questionaire whether or not person a and person b should be included in this section. If so, here are their details (and list them). If not, my apologies, please disregard the above information."

Thats for the advice. Your Option 'b' sounds like a good option if in doubt.
