health care
Hi I am living in Nova Scotia. My wife has been here as a visitor for
the last 5 months and we have also applied for her permanent residency
which should hopefully be completed pretty soon. We just found out my
wife is 5 weeks pregnant and therefore would need to get set up with
hospitals etc straight away. I heard that after getting permanent
residence status u have to wait three months before applying for the
health card and services. However, I contacted the Nova Scotia MSI and
they informed me that my wife can apply straight away for a health
card when she recieves her immigration and it takes about three weeks
to receive it. Is this true?
Also I am not a canadian citizen so does this cause any problems with
regards to the baby? do we need to inform the CHC London about my wife
being pregnant?

Re: health care
If the child is born in Canada it will be a Canadian citizen and not of
interest to immigration. You have already contacted the Nova Scotia Medical
Insurance authority and no one here is likely to know any better.

Re: health care
the 3 month wait time is only with a few provinces. If NS said that dont
have a wait time, then she will be covered right away she is a PR.
