Default THE REAL KAREN GORDON!!

Guys and Girl, look what I found. HAVE I GOT A BIG SURPRISE TO ALL OF
YOU!!!!!!

Just like you all, I too want to forget about this er... person called Karen
Gordon . However, chances are that she'll be back. But, by then... For days
she has been bashing all of us as to how crooked we the immigration
consultants all are. For days she's been showing her "ever-so-great" concern
over "poor immigrants" who'll fall prey to A. Miller and al.

Let me show you just how sympathetic she is toward the unsuspecting
immigrants whom she is so vehemently trying to save from all of you, all of
us. Let me SHOW you, what a hypocrite snake this person is!!!

The following segment's web address is:

This is her comment apperently on the Police, attacking the Church in Quebec
City to capture the Algerians. YOU WON'T BELEIVE YOUR EYES MY FRIENDS. Here
it goes;

And I also wonder where did this Leslie Lakos herself appear from?
I don't remember her being around before.
I certainly haven't seen her answer questions like Jim, Andrew, PMM and
others.
She seems to have appeared precisely at the same time as Karen Gordon.

hmm....a mystery worth Monsieur Hercule Poirot himself !

My Dear insidious friend Karen,

Unlike you, I DO have the guts to reveal my contact number, etc. Would you
kindly give me a call? You see, that way neither you, nor I will bother
those, who use their times to HELPING instead of accusing...
Now my lady, you'll do that, wouldn't you?

Jim, probably Leslie is a graduate of Seneca's Immigration Practitioner
Certificate Program. So, if he graduated and holds the certificate then he
may call himself Certified Immigration Practitioner.

As we all know it won't be enough to represent applicants for a fee before
CIC, IRB and IAD after IRPA regs are amended in April - membership in CSIC
or Provincial/Territorial law society will be required. And I remember
Leslie in previous posts indicated being a "CSIC Constituent" - little bit
premature as there are no members yet, only applicants for membership at
various stages of the process. So far CSIC didn't even provide us (those who
already passed exams and submitted police certificates) with final
documentary requirements and instructions how to finalize the process, they
promised to do it by the end of this week... we'll see.

Default Re: THE REAL KAREN GORDON!!

1. Just as Andrew Miller wrote. I graduated at Seneca in October of last
year. The program was called "Certified Immigration Practitioner Program".
Well Jim, I think - once you finish it - you are certified.

2. "Constituent number". CSIC sent me - and obviously to many others -
the following letter on the 26th of January 2004:
Thank for completing the Intent to Register process.

Here is your Unique File Number: 2378

The following items are attached to this email:
- Welcome Letter
- Test Passport
- Police Letter of Reference
- Instructions on how to book test
- List of test sites and contact info

Here, they call it Unique File Number.
Then, on the following day I receiced this:

Constituent ID# 2378 - 22nd February 2004, Seneca College Newham campus.

Thank you Mr. Lakos for advising me of the about information. Please find
attached the testing study materials to help you prepare for the
examination.

Thanking you.

Yours truly,
Imran Qayyum
Treasurer, Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC)

So Jim, as you can see I am not making it up. They call it this way.

(K): Perhaps Canadians are learning a very costly lesson here. We elect
those that TELL us what they are going to do for us in Ottawa. We cast
our votes for the 'lesser evil'. We're too lazy to pay close attention
to politics on a daily/weekly basis and vote for whomever our family
members tell us are 'okay' or who the neighbour thinks is the best party
to vote for. Maybe we get those we deserve in Ottawa.

Those that we "can trust" are not necessarily those with the best public
personna..... ie the best suit or haircut or whitest smile. Those that
we "can trust" are often those that make the most embarassing faux pas
in front of the cameras, but have their hearts in the right place, and
that place is with the average, working, overtaxed and overburdened
Canadian.

Let's start looking beyond the glamour and the glib words and start to
see who's behind the rhetoric. Let's not allow our candidates to just
tell us what they 'are going to do for us' in Ottawa..... let's be asking
HOW they plan to do it.

I think the Americans are locked into a no-win election treadmill which
is always going to elect the 'smoothest' candidate - thanks to their
Hollywood influence. Canadians can do far, far better...... we can look
beyond the gloss and glitter and elect those with integrity and
determination to make our country better. Let's try looking for those
qualities - no matter the party or the candidate.

When the candidate says: "We're going to make this a better country!",
ask them: "How do you plan to do that?" Then listen carefully.

Here it seems KG linked Andrew Miller with fraudulant immigration consultants and met a stiff resistance.

Surprisingly it seems Canada has not dearth of fraud immigration consultants and CSIC is direct outcome of that.

I guess Leslie and Andrew Miller are close friends

Leslie, you might be certified but in my opinion you have not acted
professionally in this newsgroup. In any profession, you are judged by
the degree of professionalism.

PS: I am neither an immigration consultant nor an Immigrant. I started
visiting this newsgroup for last couple of months as I have sponsored my
wife from US.

Dear Vince,

I must admit that You are right. I myself am embarrased over the tone I
used, however "subtle" I wanted to be. Without trying to embellish the facts
it just gets me when you see in a person nothing but sheer malice, brazen
lies and innuendos . You are right, it shouldn't. Without further ado, I
apologize.

I was well aware of the use of Certified however I thought it best to
clarify the term for the other readers of this group lest thay thisnk that
this is higher level of IC . Like everyone else I too am waiting for the
final paper work from CSIC. Perhaps Leslie could impart some of her newly
learned knowledge in the NG for all of us, including those of us who have
been practising as uncertified ICs for years to learn from. Some times new
dogs can teach old dogs a trick or two. I am never too old to learn from
others. Et tu!

Default Re: THE REAL KAREN GORDON!!

Thank you Jim, happily.
As we all know from the CSIC letter, it is a 2 hours long exam, consisting
of 60 questions. Some 60 % of it dealing with ethics and the rest is
knowledge. The knowledge test is dealing with easy and obvious answers. (to
you guys.) Some of them are timeline-related. Some others are testing our
knowledge on definition. The right answers will be indicated on a special
card (A, B, C or D) and the score will be evaluated by a machine. Suffice it
to say that I left the room after spending 1 hour 15 minutes. I'm no genius,
but due to my recent studies, most of the info we learnt is still in my
mind. (Graduated in last October.)

I think the real hurdle comes some 2 years down the road, when we all have
to specialize. That, for sure will not be an entry-level test.

In conclusion; I'll keep my fingers crossed but having experienced the exam,
and being aware of all of your level of knowledge I know it will be
unnecessary.

Ps:I'd just like to apologize again for my outburst and tone I used earlier
on her. Vince is right, it is NOT professional. I stand corrected

The test was interesting particualrly the Code of Conduct question.

Try to get involved in the NG, you can learn a lot and pick up useful bits
of info. Don't take matters personally as it can be rough crowd. If you have
any situations in your practise that you cannot solve , ask directly. We all
do.
