Default H-1B - Canadian PR (origin country is Pakistan)

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident but living these days in my home
country Pakistan. I have a potential job offer from USA. They want to
sponsor my H-1 visa but their main concern is the time it is going to
take from Pakistan.

My question is that, can I apply H-1 from Canada, in that case I will
have to fly to Canada and apply for H-1 from there.

Possible ?

Any help or suggestion appreciated.

Nasir

I am not an expert, but I think it would actually take longer if you
apply for this visa from Canada, unless you have Canadian citizenship.

It is usually fastest in your home country, and often longest in a
third country.

Hope this helps.

I find it quite disturbing that you are trying to leverage the benefits of holding Canadian residency without currently residing in Canada or ever planning on residing in Canada. If you are living in Pakistan, and planning on living in the US, perhaps you should consider abandoning Canadian Landed Immigrant status altogether so that someone more deserving could benefit from it.

Unlikely as the US will probably say, process it from your homeland.
Doubtful if Canada would even give you visitor visa for such a plan.

How does abandoning of one's PR can benefit anyother one??
Please explain ... unless the remark is just .....

.. holding Canadian PR does not and should not consitute any moral
constraint of MUST BE LIVING IN CANADA.
CIC issues PR after months/years of consideriation and investigation
of applicant's records.
PR therefore is just a certificate of ELIGIBILITY to travel to and
reside in Canada.. nothing else... just like any other visa. Whether
one choses to benefit from it or not.. is his personal choice.

He doesn't need a Canada visa since he is a PR.

Absolutely wrong!!!

Read Section 28 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act here:

http://www.parl.gc.ca/37/1/parlbus/c...141b-1E.html#6

As you can see permanent residents have the obligation to live in Canada for
at least 730 days in ever 5 years period in order to keep their PR status.
Under the old Immigration Act (prior to June 28, 2002) the requirement was
even tougher - 183 days in Canada in any 12 months period to keep the PR
status.

PR status is not just a visa issued for indefinite period - it is a
privilege one must maintain if one wants to keep it and benefit from it.

Not meeting residency obligations will result in loss or PR status, period.

Ha... haa....

Looks, you ready to snath his PR Card. Canada Govt will do that if he
continues to be there beyond a limit.

Absolutely wrong Miller...a PR does not need visa to enter Canada.
