Got an interview call LA, any experiences?
Any interview experience from families at the Los Angeles consulate?
I have received a letter stating that the interview is scheduled for
March 2004. Any helpful hints, past experiences, specially from
people with spouse and kids.
Presently on work visa (H1) in the US from PK.
My timeline:
Jan 2002: Applied at Buffalo
Mar 2002: AOR received
Mar 2003: Assessment + health + more info requested (only forms)
Interview requirement stated
May 2003: Added newborn to application
Sep 2003: File had been transferred to LA
Jan 2004: Interview letter scheduled for Mar 2004
Thanks

hi
i had my interview at LA in June'03 under the skilled worker category. it was pretty tough. prepare well about your job, about canada and your job prospects in canada. don't let the attitude of the interviewer put you off. some of them are real nasty. put your views across politely and firmly. take all the papers they have asked for, don't put in a file, just tag them together. be on time and dress properly.
in the end things worked out real fine for us since i recd my visa in november. planing to land in apr'04. all the best to you.

Re: Got an interview call LA, any experiences?
A.Ansari,
I immigrated to Canada in '97 and was never interviewed for my
immigrant visa. However my brother was interviewed in '99. The aim
of the interview is for the officer to clear any doubts or questions
he/she may have regarding your application. Best approach would be
complete honesty and confidence in your answers. Contrary to popular
belief, consuls are not looking for any chance to pounce on you and
refuse your application. They are merely doing their job, i.e to
ensure you fit the criteria needed currently to qualify for Canadian
immigration.
Best of luck!

**NOTE**
I have lived in nine different countries. Dual Pakistani and Canadian
citizen, 2 years and 6 months away from qualifying to apply for US
citizenship.

Re: Got an interview call LA, any experiences?
I had interview in Jan-03 in Canadian Consulate, L.A.
The interview was very simple and the visa officer was
very nice, polite and understanding.
The visa officer mostly asked about my Masters degree
( I have two Masters) and about my Grades of 4.0 (straight
A's). He asked 1-2 questions about my bachelor degree, relative
in Canada and also available fund. The interview lasted hardly
for about 10 minutes.
At last, everything went well. The visa officer said I was
selected and to pay the landing fees. I was informed that I
would be recieving a letter with my passport request for visa
stamping in 1-2 months as they are waiting to recieve my Medical
result from Canada. I had done my Medical in Nov-03 and had applied
for P.R in Dec-01.
By the way, I was informed in the begginning of interview that I will
be assessed in old rules since I had applied in Dec-03 and if not
selected in
old rules will be assessed in New rules.
Hope this helps..Thanks
