Lightbulb Goods to follow transport

We are planning to move from SF Bay Area to Toronto area in a few months and have a bunch of stuff with us (3 bdr. house furniture and all related stuff).
I keep wondering is it worth paying for transport of all this stuff (or is it more cost efficient to sell it before the move) since it seems that moving companies are charging 5K+ for all of this.
Any good experience to pass on? What larger items is better to transport and what to leave in your experience?
Thanks.

Is your furniture and related stuff worth more then 5K? If you got really good things and do not have much money to buy it all when you come here, then rent a truck and move it all.
It will be hard in the beginning and you might not be able to afford it all at once. It is hard start buying everything from the spoon to bedroom sheets etc. If you sell it, you still wont get what its worth.
All the best!
