Going to the U.S. as a visitor from Canada.
Hi---
I posted this at misc.immigration.usa but nobody responded..
I think it's still relevant to immigration.canada just a little bit..
so if anybody has some info, please let me know.
Thanks.
---------------------------------------------------
Hello-
I used to be a student with F1 visa in the U.S.,
but now I go to school in Canada with a study permit.
Anyhow.. I have a B1/B2 visa that is valid until the end of this
month, May.
I came to the U.S. for the weekend, and I received an I-94 with 6
months validity period. (along with "random search!" what a
coincidence this random search happens just when I needed I-94. never
happened when I had F1 status?!")
The immigration officer told me, "You can come back and forth for 6
months with this."
So my question is, can I go back to Canada for MORE than 30 days and
still return to the U.S. within that 6 months period? From my
understanding, it's not the case, but according to her, it sounds like
it wasn't gonna be a problem.
Second question-- do I have to surrender I-94 eventually before 6
months?
Thank you.

Re: Going to the U.S. as a visitor from Canada.
You can use same I-94 to go USA again and u dont need new I-94 as old
one is valid for 6 months
Yes u have to surrender I-94 before the expiration.U can go to Pearson
airport and give to usa immigration officer before its expiration but
dont forget to take u passport with u. I did same with my I-94
