To get a lawyer, or not to get a lawyer....
Hello Everyone,
I was wondering about the whole notion of enlisting the help of a
lawyer on an immigration case...What exactly does the lawyer do
besides check that the paperwork is in order? Is there any other
benefit to retaining legal representation on an immigration
application?
Sincerely,
Eponine

There's a difference between a lawyer and a consultant. An immigration
lawyer would usually be more beneficial in the event of an appeal or
specialised application such as humanitarian grounds etc.
If you're talking about commencing an immigration application from the
start, if you feel comfortable submitting your own application, then you
certainly don't need to deal with any third parties.
