Did say you'd be wrong with the announcement dates in the other thread ;)

Re: FSW List Announced Today
Great news if your occupation is one of the 24 on the list and you get your app in before the 5000 cap. I'd imagine there are a lot of disappointed folk out there. Me included, looks like its TWP or bust for me

I confess that I had some insider knowledge Amy but it wouldn't have been right to release it before CIC did obviously.
Nice to see one of the websites I helped create in the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) section ;) |

Re: FSW List Announced Today
Let the fun and games commence
5000 cap, 24 occupations and only 300 in each occupation wow that will piss some off. Good luck to those who apply. I suggest people read the NOC codes to see if they qualify. |

Blimey, just read the occupations - can't believe nurses aren't on it! *shocked face*
I know several people suspected nurses would be taken off the last list, but somehow I wasn't expecting them to be taken off this time around. |

Thanks Amy, much appreciated. I'll make this a sticky thread. At the very least it gave me a small insight into a small piece of the big machine of the federal government. I just hope the site and application process I helped do some updates to performs admirably lol. |

I suppose it's rather odd to be working on a website for the FSW PR stream while being in the process of a PR application myself (family class albeit).

Perhaps you should volunteer your services to CIC as they seem to be having one or two complaints about the new online IEC programme.

At least I got out of that lawyer situation before they bled me dryer than Pharaoh 's flip-flop. Edit: Thank you to everyone on here who has taken the time to help me and answer my questions. I hope you make buddy. I thought it unlikely that accountants would be on the list, to be honest, so your next option is to perhaps look into one of the PNP streams. Convert your qualifications to Canadian recognised ones - I suspect they won't look at your resume unless you do - and start contacting employers again. Keep your chin up - there are ways and means. :) |
Re: FSW List Announced Today
Come on people - positive thoughts. More thinking and maybe some more hard work are required, but you can find a way to get here. It's just more of a pain now. :fingerscrossed:

I am inclined to just get on a plane and come over there this summer. Visit a number of provinces and hang around the seedier parts of town, you know where the bankers are. See if I can make some connections (or have a shot-gun marriage to a Canadian). At the very worst it'd be a mega holiday.

Hmm, anyone taking bets as to how many seconds after 9am on 4th May it will be before the cap is full? Ironically I am a computer programmer but when I came to Canada my occupation wasn't deemed in-demand, my wife's pharmacy skills were. I think if I were applying now I'd book myself a holiday to Nova Scotia for the first week in May and hand the application in person over the desk (standing in a queue of 200+ other developers with the same idea)...... ;p Wayne. |
Re: FSW List Announced Today
Guys, whats the process in applying for this. I work as a computer engineer and its on the list. Do i need a job offer for this visa? Also, how much does it cost?

Will take more effort but many people on this forum have got into Canada that way, so it's doable. Best of luck, Wayne. |

This is a list of occupations which are eligible to apply without one. First, u need to make sure you have the 67 points required. You can take a self-test here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...sess/index.asp Then you will need to get all the forms and supporting documents together. This will include: - Proof of main language (which I am guessing will be English), IELTS is the most common option - Proof of funding - Educational documents (University Transcripts must be obtained from the University in sealed envelopes) - Work references, listing duties performed. A substantial amount of these must match the duties listed in the NOC description. Processing fees are probably around £1000 but it depends on how many people are in your application (spouse, kids etc). Obviously time is a factor but then quite a lot of people will be in the same boat, with the list only just have come out. Probably the deciding factor will be how quickly you can take an IELTS test and get the results, if you haven't already. We applied in 2010 some 8 weeks after the list had been announced with my wife's occupation having just appeared on the list, and we comfortably got within the cap. BUT the cap was 1000 back then, and I fear computer programmers will be a more popular occupation. Best of luck, Wayne. |
