FAMILY CLASS - I AM CONFUSED
Can someone clarify the following lifted from the CIC website.
My parents are Canadian Citizens. They have no parents or gradparents or anyone in the third class.
As their son I would seem to be eligible for sponsorship under the fourth category but this then seems to be taken out by the final paragraph.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Also if this is the case would they be able to sponsor my wife and me go with them? She s a relative of theirs and not one of their children.
Thoughts would be appreciated.
Who can be sponsored
You can sponsor:
- parents
- grandparents
- brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
- another relative of any age or relationship if none of the above relatives could be sponsored, and you have no other relatives who are Canadian citizens, persons registered as Indians under the Indian Act or permanent residents and
- accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).
Who cannot be sponsored
Other relatives, such as brothers and sisters over 18, or adult independent children cannot be sponsored. However, if they apply to immigrate under the Skilled Worker Class, they may get extra points for adaptability for having a relative in Canada.

Your parents have each other, you cannot be sponsored. That clause is for people who are truly alone in Canada afaik.
From your quote:
