I'm an Australian citizen who is currently employed in the high-tech industry in
British Columbia on a Working Holiday Visa which expires in September 2001. My
employer is about to start the process of applying for an Employment Authorization on
my behalf. Is it necessary for me to leave Canada, then re-enter with the new Visa?
Or can I be issued with the Employment Austhorization while I'm still working in BC?
Is their a typical process for people in my position? Thanks in advance for any
assistance.

You should be able to apply to change the terms of your existing status from within
Canada. Such applications are submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville,
and allow you to remain in Canada during processing.
