Extending TWP (Intra-Company, LMO exempt)
Hi,
I hope you can all help. I'm applying for an extension online for my TWP, which expires August this year. I originally got my TWP as an Intra Company Transferee, therefore I didn't need an LMO (or CSQ, as I'm in Quebec).
The online application is asking whether I have an HRSDC Letter and a CSQ letter, but it doesn't ask whether or not I'm exempt or not.
What should I do? Do I need to apply for another exemption first? I hope not.
All help greatly appreciated as always.
-Pete

Pete, no you don't. I came here on an Intra Company Transfer, initially on a 1 year TWP. I extended for 2 more years, and then another 2 years!
I didn't do it online though.... my Company paid for a lawyer to do it and all I had to do was fill in a few forms (IMM1249, IMM 5257 and a couple of others).
I would just tick "no" on the questionnaire.... they already have your details from your initial application, so I can't see it being a problem.

Similarly for me, I have just renewed my TWP, via the standard route and it took around 4 months. It's quicker on line as I understand it so this has to be a good thing - if possible avoid being on implied status as this is a PITA.
You probably know this but once you have got the updated TWP you need to go to a Service Canada and renew your SIN, painless process, takes about 5 minutes (you keep the same number but the expiry date changes to the expiry of the new TWP)
One other thing to be aware of is I believe that maximum duration of stay in Canada for intra-company transferee workers on TWP is normally five years so if you there is any chance you want to stay longer than 5 years I would get a PR app in ASAP.

Thanks. Why is implied status a PITA? No re-entry or something?
Also, I will be applying for PR under CEC as soon as I accumulate 2 years...

Yep, no re-entry. Also you lose child benefit and OHIP (might not affect you in Quebec, OHIP can be claimed back retrospectively and child benefit restarted but it was a PITA for us...)

I'll also be working in Quebec under a TWP. Supposing my TWP expires July next year, how early in advance can I have it renewed?
