I lived in Canada from 1977 until 1984, then returned to live in the UK because of a
lack of work. Myself, my wife, and my son became citizens in 1983. My son, who is a
qualified aircraft engine fitter now wants to live in Canada, and I was wondering if
anyone can give me any information as to any problems he might have in entering the
country. Does the fact he has citizenship mean he can enter the country with no
problem, or will the fact he has been out of the country so long have any effect.

Hi:

Canadian citizens have the right to enter Canada whenever they choose.

Your son will have to prove that he is a Canadian citizen by his passport or his
Canadian citizenship card.

Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.
