Detroit interview
I applied under the Skilled Worker program before January 2002 and 3
months
ago I was informed that I need to submit updated forms and supporting
documents with proof of language proficiency in order to be considered
under the new law with 70 points passing mark. I took IELTS, got an
overall mark of 8 and sent updated forms and documents. Now, I am
asked to appear for an interview in Detroit this August.
Now to my questions:
1) There is no statement in the letter indicative that my application
have been assessed. Is the assessment (i.e. awarding of points) done
after the interview?
2) For the interview, it is asked that I bring police certificates
issued no earlier than 6 months. I can readily request for a new FBI
clearance. But do I need to produce new certificates from other
countries? I have lived in Australia, Philippines, New Zealand and
Switzerland. Not only that getting certificates is costly but I do not
think I can get them all before my interview date.
Thank you. And best wishes to all.

Hi Ralph E,
We're in the same boat as we were also asked to submit new IRPA forms. We applied in Manila in November 2000.
How many points did you get per the new law? When did you submit the updated forms/documents and how long was it until you received the letter advising you of an interview?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and best regards

Re: Detroit interview
1) Yes, final points will be awarded and selection decision made after
interview
2) If you haven't resided in those countries since date of original PC then
you don't need to produce new ones - have only new FBI clearance if you
resided exclusively in US since dates of other police certificates submitted
with your application.
