Determined to move to and work in ONT, but where do I start??
Hi everyone -
I'm an American-born American citizen living in New York. I just
graduated from college about a year ago, have been working in the
professional world for about 8 months, and I'm really interested in
relocating to the Toronto area.
My question is, where do I start? I know that I'll need a work permit
in order to hold a job (and I assume that most companies would be
weary of having to go through the hassle of waiting for me to get a
work permit), but in order to get a work permit I need to have a job
offer. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) For what it's worth, I'm an
the IT field.
For the immediate future I'd just be thrilled to work and live in
Ontario ..but it's likely that I'd be looking to become a permanent
resident shortly after getting settled, though.
Besides my "where do I start" question, I'd really appreciate it if
anyone could offer their experiences if they've been in a similar
situation. How do companies generally respond to your status when you
apply for a job? Is it a bid hassle, or is it no big deal?
Thanks to anyone who can offer their insight!
