current LMO processing time Alberta???
Hi does anyone know or has recently had a positive LMO, how long they are taking right now?? Ours has been in 7 weeks tomorrow and a bit nervous

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Hey there,
We are pretty much in the same boat, only my application went in at Regina, SK. My LMO application went in exactly 7 weeks ago today. I was initially given an estimate of 4-6 weeks by my employer's HR. When I called them after 6 weeks, they said the immigration consultant was saying it takes 8-10 weeks to process. Checking the HRSDC website, I couldnt find any 'official' processing times for the LMO. Reading on this forum, I've found that it can take anywhere between 5-11 weeks. And apparently, the longer it takes, the lesser your chances get of being rejected. So, make of that what you will. :-) Good luck! |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Thanks for the reply Scuudz! Yeah Ive been told the same thing, less chance of being refused the longer it takes!! Hopefully not much longer.........we were the same expecting 4-6 weeks!!!
Good luck! |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
I am thankfully past this stage for myself but my parents are beginning the process and my fathers lmo was faxed on September 9th.......does anyone know if this will make the waiting game any quicker or still the average of 7 weeks?
Thanks |

Thanks In my opinion, no one really knows how long it is going to take. I have read of people getting the LMO in 4 weeks and it has taken others upto 11 weeks. So, I am just assuming that it could come any time between 4 and 11 weeks. I am at 8 weeks now. |

From what I've read on this forum and other websites so far, I don't think faxing the lmo application would have any impact on how long it takes to get approved.

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Yea each week that goes by seems longer than the last. I got my positive LMO in 9 weeks. Submitted my passport shortly after that, then I was told the medical request would come in 3-5 weeks. Thankfully, it took just 6 days. Got my medical done last Friday and resubmitted my passport today since they ask you to wait 5 days after your medical to resubmit your passport. Fingers crossed for the next week or so.
Here's to your positive LMO coming through soon. |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Another week maybe and we could have the positive lmo (all being well):fingerscrossed:
Do you know if they send them out by fax or canada post? Is there a specific day to expect this (ie monday, friday etc)? |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Ours was sent by post to the employer? Not sure if there is a day??

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Hello,
I am an IT Manager in Ontario and have worked for my employer for about a year. The LMO for my new permit was posted on September 6th - so thats about 8 weeks and 4 days and I'm still waiting. We were told that once a decision has been made that they will phone, fax (if the option is available) and post the result to the employer. Fingers crossed for all of us :fingerscrossed: |

Mine came through a week and a half ago, took forever but that was because my employer made mistakes on the application! It should take no longer than 8 weeks in AB from what my employer was told by the guy who dealt with my LMO.

Hey Murrin, i hope so too. Does your employer have a person that they can call to get an update? At one point my application was stalled because my employer forgot to include the business license, it hit and sat on the persons desk who was to process it, but the guy never contacted my employer, it was me hassling employer to call that got things moving again!!!

Hi Cchris......We got the employer to call after 6 weeks but they got the automated answering machine which asked not to be bothered unless 10 weeks had passed (apparently).....so they never actually got to speak with anyone and they seem to be accepting the 10 week waiitng time........but we are struggling with it !

That waiting time can be so stressful. It was especially terrible for me as I was already working for the company on my OWP, so I went on leave of absence while my papers were being dealt with. I stayed here with no status and no income and no certain timeline of when I would be able to be regain my status. Its weird, I called to enquire about my LMO myself and got to speak with a real person the first time I called. They refused to speak to me about it but encouraged my employer to call them.
I was out of status until 3 weeks ago then went to the border and changed to a visitor visa until November 30th :( |

How long did you have to wait on your lmo in the end? |

We may have to ask the employer to call again although I think he seemed happy to wait until the 10 weeks had lapsed.

This wait is soo long......I told my parents (i feel it in my bones) that they will get an approval this week.....this friday will be 9 weeks! |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Just ask them to hang in there! It's a long wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.
|
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Well we got some bad news (not terrible news..just bad)....we have to start the application from the start again and re advertise the job because the employer did not fill out the forms correctly with the appropriate wording etc.....huge set back but not the end.
I cant beleive they waited almost 9 weeks to tell us it was wrong...arrrgh! |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
So sorry to hear you have to start again ! :(
Could you maybe share with us what exactly went wrong with the application? Something related to the wording...?? |

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Hi guys,
I have just recieved a positive LMO. It has taken 11 weeks and 3 days. I'm now going to fight across the border (its black friday) to get my TWP. |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
That's great news m4mm4l - I have been keeping my fingers crossed for you, and it paid off !! :fingerscrossed::D

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
Hi,
I have just spoken to the office that processes the LMO's in Edmonton and they told me at the moment current processing time is a minimum of 10 weeks. I am currently on 9 weeks and 3 days of hellish waiting so hopefully Im going to hear something positive soon.(Fingers Crossed)! Antony |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
I am at 9 weeks and 4 days, it seems like a lifetime...
Hopefully there is good news for us both in the next couple of weeks... |
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
What date did you application get sent off?
|
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
September 23. We received the file reference number on October 13 and that said that they had received the application on September 27.
|
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
They are currently processing files from September 14th so hopefully we both wont have long to wait. The waiting is just the worst thing ever!
|
Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
14 weeks as of today, and still no decision in sight.

Re: current LMO processing time Alberta???
The employer has just been told to expect a decision in 2 weeks, so 16 weeks wait in total if this is correct, and there are no further delays because of Christmas etc... :fingerscrossed:
