My thoughts are that our case files were straightforward and no extra checking was required. Since landing we both had same address, same job, no name changes, no gender changes, same everything really and never been outside the country for extended times.

What date were you given? I was originally gave a date in April but I have a pre-booked trip so was told they would reschedule me to the next available date after the 5th may.
Just trying to figure out when the May date is. Guess I'll be in June

The process definitely seems to have sped up with the online applications.

I sent my application through on Dec 29th. I had a request for fingerprints in March & had my test last week. Application is still processing but it has been a lot quicker than I expected.

May 8th is our date. We are in an odd situation whereby my other half is awaiting surgery date and that could be early May but we hope not as we really don't want to have to reschedule the ceremony but the surgery is urgent.

IRCC saying that ceremonies are being rescheduled because of the strike so yours could be moved if the strike goes on that long.

Yeah that's just typical, we get this far in the process and the bstds go on strike. On the plus side it could be ok if ours is shifted if our surgery date comes up early May.

still waiting for our pr renewal from december and we travel in three weeks we applied for the emergency visa return as advised by an agent a week ago because of the backlog in processing paid 100 dollars for that and its looking very unlikely it will come through now with the strikes

What 'emergency return visa'? I'm intrigued, never heard of one of those before, most people have to apply for a PRTD.

hi yes thats what it is:rofl: they have been allowing people to apply for them before they leave because its been taking so long once you are out of the country and if your renewal is taking longer than the processing times they are giving

I’ve only got as far as the security check marked as complete in the progress checker. (I’m over 55, so I don’t even need to sit the test.)
My friend applied in April and has already completed everything but the ceremony.
another acquaintance applied in May and just did their ceremony yesterday.
Does anyone know how I can contact someone to discuss my application, as I have a feeling it’s stuck on someone’s desk.
thanks,
Kenny

I applied exactly one year to the day on 2May2022. Request for finger prints made in November 2022. I was 60 years old when applied so no test required. Still waiting for ceremony invite

Well we did it, the ceremony went ahead today as planned and we are now Canadian citizens. The actual process was easy it's just the waiting around while they sort all the people out that's a bit mind numbing.
Quick fact, there were 129 people from 42 countries at our ceremony.

Thanks, now the task of more Canadian red tape to get our passports. I see that they are moving to online renewals but not for first applications, it's still a service Canada thing. :(

Re: Checking progress of Citizenship

Please I desperately need some help - I applied Mar 22 I have received an email see below but I don't thin this is an AOR. I can't track any progress as I don't have an application number and I can't contact them whatsoever as everything seems to be a dead end. All I want to do is find out the progress but I have heard nothing. My application is a simple one being over 60 - - it is very frustrating not to know what is going on - so I am hoping someone can put me in the right direction. Thanks NeilDear Client,
