Canadian PR applicant applies for US visitor visa
Hi,
My friend's application for canadian visa is pending, but she wants to
apply for US visitor visa. My questions are
1) Does the Canadian PR application have bad influence upon her US
visitor visa application?
2) She is a chinese and has been in Japan for eight years, and now
have been in Canada for two years as a visitor. Must she go back to
China to apply for her US visitor Visa?
Your kind advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Canadian PR applicant applies for US visitor visa
1) She obviously doesn't have any substantial ties to her home country and
by submitting her Canadian PR application she already declared herself to be
an immigrant - Americans will be reluctant to give her a tourist visa. But
hey, she won't know unless she tries.
2) Being in Canada for 2 years as "visitor" will be a big "No, No" for
Americans as well. This is just another proof of her immigration intentions
and lack of ties to home country. Also Americans don't always accept
applications in countries where applicant is just a visitor.

Joy --
You are better off asking these questions in the US visa group at
alt.visa.us.
Let me address these questions very briefly here:

None whatsoever.

Yes.
US consulate in Canada will not have enough information to process her
application.
It is best to apply in the country of citizenship, or where she has lived
most of her life.
Hope this helps.
