Canada - DUI conviction??
Is drink driving classed as a motoring offence or a criminal offence? Would being caught drink driving 8 years ago prevent anyone from getting a TWP or PR?

Re: Canada
I could be wrong but I believe it's classed as a conviction that would need to be considered rehabilitated. But I'm sure forum members with better knowledge than me will be along shortly ,

Re: Canada
Each case is dealt with on its own merits and the examining officer makes the decision.

Re: Canada
As FL said you would most likely need rehabilitation and lots of effort on your part to prove that you are not a danger to other road users and small animals.

Re: Canada
I would have thought that 8 years was a long enough duration to be deemed rehabilitated....
I was under the impression that a police check was not needed to enter canada under a TWP.
Worse than murder, holy crap, thats nuts!

Re: Canada
So with having secured a job thats classsed as highly skilled and have had the company sort everything out other than the TWP, the chances of getting the TWP at POE are, on a scale of 1-10? 10 being highly likely

Re: Canada
without wanting to give too many personal details, i know of someone who's been convicted for drink driving but is in Canada on a TWP through an LMO
no idea about the length of the ban, or how long ago, however!
so it's definitely possible to get in

So, don't come. Go somewhere where drunk driving is tolerated more to your liking.

It just appears like that here, when just last week a person who ran over another 75 year old person in a car and killed her got a $400 fine and no ban. That is nuts IMO

Re: Canada
speeding in a school zone here is worse than murder
yet going 30-40kmh over the speed limit on the highway is considered normal

Here is a link to the death by car incident

Good luck with the rehab
For balance, a drink driver gets 3 1/2 years jail time as be was reckless and COULD of killed someone.
