Hi,

I'm looking to apply for a job in Montreal, but the position requires working partly
in Chicago. I have permanent resident status in Canada, but according to the agency I
need to be a citizen to be able to do this. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

They are likely referring to the need for an employment authorization in the USA,
which would be facilitated by the provisions of NAFTA if you were a citizen. Assuming
that these are two locations of the same or an affiliated company, other
intra-company transferee visas would require that you had been continuously employed
for one year to be eligible.

You may wish to consult with a specialist in US immigration laws to determine if any
other means may exist which would allow you to work at the Chicago location briefly.
