Default British tradesman looking to move

Hi everyone, I am a British tradesman (carpenter) looking to move to Canada for 2 years, possibly longer if we enjoy it. Which would be the best route for me to go down regarding visas? Would it be best for me to go down the permanent immigration route or working holiday visa?

Any help would be amazing as I have been struggling to get my head around the whole situation. Thanks, Casey.

Hi, welcome to BE.

Can you give us a bit more info - when you say 'we', is that you and a partner? You and 10 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats and an iguana? Have you visited Canada before? How old are you?

Have you looked into the IEC visa then? Ideal for your ages

In which case, I'd go for IEC's (the working holiday visa) then, you can always apply for PR at a later date if you are sure you want to stay in Canada longer term, but an IEC would be a much cheaper and easier route over for now.

Worth noting though, that teaching isn't a great occupation for Canada. More info here, might be worth asking your partner to have a read of this and see if she would be happy to do something else. https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Teaching_in_Canada
