Default birth cert

I'm just about to send my application off to cic but have just one last query about birth certificates please.

The checklist asks for a copy and it seems the replacement certificates I ordered from the UK are certified copies of an entry. Do I send this of can I send a photocopy?

I'd rather keep the original replacement birth certificates if I can in case I need them fast later.
My mate sent a copy of the certified copy and just got a case number so think its ok???

Thanks so much

I sent a photocopy of the certified copy since I'd lost my original, but that was quite a few years ago now.

Even the original is a certified copy of an entry (in the register). The real original entry is that in the register itself (if that makes sense).

It's just a copy of the certificate they want - whether it's the one issued just after your birth, or one obtained yesterday.

You can easily order the long form from the GRO. People have been asked for the long form as it names the parents.

not sure I know what you mean, Aviator ... oooh are you being cheeky? cheeky!

Hmm - might get him to order the long certificate (!!) in case we get asked for one ... too late for the pack as I posted that this morning. Ah well.
