hello folks, it is known that each visa office can have a specific leaning on the
types of reasons which are acceptable for issuing a RRP. Would you please share your
experiences with consulates in the US? thanks in advance,

Not really - the acceptable reasons for issuing RRP are rather strictly defined by
Immigration Act and Regulations and there is no much room allowed for processing
officer discretion. What reasons you have for prolonged absence from Canada? Did you
establish your permanent residency in Canada after landing and what kind of
residential and other substantial ties to Canada are you maintaining while absent?

Andrew, thanks for your response. Yes, I beleive I have established my permanent
residency in Canada, I have my SIN, driver's license, OHIP, bank account, permanent
address (although I am not living there now). That's pretty much it. I am single, so
no family members are in Canada.
The reason for applying for a RRP is that I am working in US now on a temporary
contract (3 months already). I need to honor the contract, otherwise I will be paying
some penalty... I have signed the contract before I got the PR visa from the Canadian
Immigration, and it is valid for 1 year.
Thus I hope for a RRP for 9 - 10 months...
Thanks a lot,
a.

Sorry, but looks like you haven't established your residency in Canada at all. Having
mailing address, SIN, OHIP, DL and bank account is not proving anything, anyone can
have it after landing. You don't live at your mailing address, you don't have phone
and other utilities in your name, you didn't start working in Canada, you don't have
any substantial ties to Canada and your reason for prolonged absence is work abroad
for foreign employer. Your RRP application will be denied.

Andrew, thanks anyway. I will apply for RRP even knowing they will deny... I just
want to show my interest in this country, and it is too pity if the law is so strict
