Default any progress with late 2001 buffalo applications?

I applied in October 2001 in Buffalo and got an interview waiver in
October 2002 with a request to undergo medicals after a 6 months
waiting period. I had my medicals done in late April 2003. In a
couple of months my medicals will expire and I am still awaiting final
decision on my application. My CAIPS notes indicated a bring forward
date on Jan 4, 2004, after which my e-client's "IN PROCESS" message
expanded to include Medical Results Have Been Received. Any idea how
long it is taking for background checks in Russia? I also worked on
and off in South Korea for about 4 months.
Any feedback will be appreciated. Waiting is very stressful, as you
know.
Thanks much.

Hey man, don't let the waiting get you. I'm from Ukraine and it's already
about 21 month since my medical. I know they were extenced for 7 months
one time but what happens now - no clue. May be because I'm staying in
Canada for all the time they will get extended again.
Guess security check in exUSSR is anything but quick, eh? We'll get there
one day, no worries.

Maybe it's not sec check that cuases delay. Do CAIPS note say
something to you? Are your secdec and bdec done. Maybe it's stuck
somewhere.

Thanks for your notes, guys. I requested new CAIPS which should be
here end of Feb. Will see what it says there. CAIPS from Oct last
year didnt not show anything out of wack, and BDEC and SECDEC fields
were empty. Guess there is nothing to do but wait again.

My CAIPS have empty values for bdec and secdes. Only psdec is done.

That's not good. Sometimes it happens when a surname is widespread and
the same with some criminals. Or maybe if you served in military . In
this case all men applicatns would be checked given that there are
three choices: army, military department in a university, or not
suitable because of health problems.

Did you work for government, manufacturers of military or space
equipment? financial institutions (i had a friend who had a security
interview because of this back 8 years ago in Warsaw)?

There is a bunch of reasons. What is more strange is why your
background check is not finished as well. As I understand it's done
not by security agencies but by CIC. Or bdec is also done by Canadian
ntelligence and security service?
No transparency at all. I only hope that your a software developer and
you don't need HRDC approval every year to work in Canada. BTW did you
try to transfer your file to Kiev (I think it is processed there for
Ukrainians).

Nah, my family name is pretty rare and I never come around
government/military service. Financial institutions - yes, worked around 2
years in a bank.
I am programmer so I'm spared from HRDC approval. Still it's kinda uneasy
to be in a "temporary" position all the time. Life in Canada often requires
long term decisions which I can't make untill my status is certain.

Banking experience may cause some delays. Unfortunately, experts don't
want or can't answer this question. I don't see clear connection
between a computer job and possible ties to money-laundering or other
criminal activity in a financial sector. However, some banking frauds
belong to programmers.

The financial system is very sensitive. A terrorist attack cannot stop
an economy, but bankruptcy of one financial institution can. Once
Barclays had become insolvent because of one trader. I hope that your
banking experience should not be a problem, unless you worked in
Slavyanski At least, this is the only name I know that may be known
abroad because of a money laundering case.

just to let you know, my new caips came in last saturday. same old
stuff, bdec is at "0" which means security / background checks still
in progress. the only difference is that it shows that i requested
caips notes back in october, and of course a new bring forward date
set on may 17, whereas my medical expires on april 24. no notes to
re-do meds. how long is this nightmareish wait is gonna last? urgh
