Default Allowable stay period without residency for UK citizen?

How long can a UK citizen legally stay in Canada, on a long vacation, before
he / she has to leave, and then how soon can he / she return?

Just curious.

For the duration of admission granted at the port of entry. If no expiration
of admission or period of admission was written in the passport next to the
Canadian immigration or customs stamp then admission by default was granted
for 6 months.
