Default To all experts - How soon can I sponsor my infant child after landing?

I have a PR but am out of Canada for 10 months. My 4 months old baby
was born out of Canada.
I am returning now to rent a house etc. and then my family joins me.
(All of us are landed immigrants with PR card - besides the baby who
was born out of Canada).
In the sponsorship forms it says that I need to be a resident in order
to apply (I couldn't send the forms from abroad).

How soon after I come to Canada can I sponsor my baby? First day I
arrive? after having a house? Do I realy have to establish "residency"
for a while before I submit the forms?
What if I leave Canada for several weeks to bring them all in. Does
this changes the "residency" status?
I would like to submit it ASAP to get the process over with.
Note that we plan to have the baby with us as a tourist.

Many thanks

Eytan
