OK. Let's have some more facts here on table for those of you
who are so low in IQ they can't figure out what's what.

As for needing a Canadian passport, I'm a West European citizen.
I don't give a rat's ass about Canadian passport, no matter how easy
it is to get one of those suckers.

I was supposed to be in this sorry place no longer than 6 months, not that
I didn't have a choice to go directly to mighty US from Europe, But I figured
what the heck ! Let's check out Canada. After those dumbass terrorists
, which BTW some came from Canada, attacked New York, my departure got delayed.

As for Canada being among the top countries for immigrants, as Jason
also mentioned only if you're a refugee from a third world or
under-developed country. Basically if you're some hick from
China or Egypt or similar places, you'll find this place very attractive.

I don't wanna be fully judgemental and unfair. It could be that
Vancouver is somewhere quite different and a first class city
unlike Toronto. But What are opportunities in Vancouver apart
from raising cows ?

As for changing the immigration laws in Canada to prevent anybody coming
in, don't forget whose populating this country. Does China ring a bell?
For every non-Chinese you got 10 Chinese lined up here.
Change your sorry mentalities not your immigration laws!!!

And now for the finale !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was placed in a company here by *** Americans ***
just to wait 'til end of the year, so I wouldn't wanna move back
to Europe.

I am not even an American citizen yet? Does a Canadian do such a
thing for even their own citizens. I rather think not.

C'mon do the right thing !!! Become the 51 state of mighty US !!!

??????????? not judgmental huh? Were these constructive comments? Your
message has no interest whatsoever. The only thing noticeable about it is
the sour taste it leaves from the beginning like food that turned bad.
Nobody will pay attention after the first sorry bite. You want to draft it
again and get interesting this time? And pay attention to facts, not your
moods...

G'day, all! In a recent article, George ([email protected]) said:

Actually, they came from other countries and (I must admit, it's amazing
how this fact is so easily looked over by dropkicks such as yourself) they
entered the United States legally and in many cases, had US visas. So,
whether they went to the US from Canada or London, the Americans still gave
them visas to stay...and in most cases work and/or study...in the US. One
of the terrorists actually had a visa application approved AFTER the attack
(resulting in the firing of some poor clerk)

Hello, George-
Why don't you have some pride on your home country?
So if U.S. ends up being not the strongest country in the world, which
country are
you going to choose? The then-strongest one I assume?
It's really sad to listen to people who have no self-esteem or pride on
where they're
from. I'm sure your country did *Something* for you, if not so much.

Even if you love U.S. soooo much, they're not gonna love you back anyways.

Second of all, I think you need to take some diversity courses at a local
university,
because you sound like a real ignorant uneducated european.
Ever heard of racial diversity? There's nothing wrong with chinese people
trying to
immigrate. After all, YOU want to immigrate to the u.s., too. but oh wait.
you're white, so maybe you think you'll fit in more. and somehow you can act
like you're not an immigrant. that's really cute. might as well join
skinhead as well?

After all, you can get out of Canada and go back to your own country if you
hate it so much.

oh one last thing-- 9/11. Yes, maybe some terrorists came from Canada.
But in the end, U.S. was the one who let him in! so who's fault is that?
or is bush going to cry like a baby again and blame it on canada?

I have a feeling that you don't fully understand what the word
"fact" really means. I don't give a rat's ass about who you are,
where you came from and why you are in Canada. When I said
your claims were lacking evidence, I meant the facts to support
your insightful observations for "those of us fools who think
Canada is a perfect country".

Sounds like you are a heck of a smart boy to figure out what's
what and to fully comprehend all aspects of the Canadian life,
within just one short year (by the way a year of severe economic
downturn). Now, how about some facts (meaning examples, statistics...)
that really prove to us fools "why Canada sucks"? Let me give
you a clue because you seem to have troubles filling in the blanks.

    > 1- Canada is NOT a merit-based country, which means that your
    > education and your credentials doesn't count at all here.

How do you know it is not merit-based? What specific merits
are not taken into account? Isn't Canada a Western country
like many others? Do you think the mighty US always has equal
opportunities for everyone? What kinds of education and
credentials do not count "at all"? Could it be related to
the economic slowdown?

    > 2- Canadians stand for nothing !!! These people have no
    > enthusiasm, no conviction in anything, no fun in their sorry
    > lives, no heroes, and no future.

How do you know what Canadians really stand for? I mean
all of them? Did you conduct some kind of survey? What
do you think the mighty Americans stand for unlike Canadians?
I have lots of friends in Canada (most of them in Toronto)
and they all have *tons* of enthusiasm, *tons* of conviction,
*tons* of fun - in fact I live in the mighty US and I'm always
envious of them because they seem to have a lot more fun
than I do. Most people I know who immigrated to Canada think
they have a great future for themselves and their kids (and by
the way, they are not from the third world poor countries).
Sure, there is more material future and financial opportunities
in the mighty US, but who told you that money is the only thing
that matters in life? As for the "heroes", Canada may indeed
have fewer heroes than America, but America has 10 times the
population of Canada, and a longer history too. Also it depends
how you define a "hero".

    > 3- There is no such thing as Canadian dream like you have
    > in mighty US.

What specifically do you know about the mighty American dream
that is so great? What exactly do you think this dream
is about? I've heard that the mighty American dream is mostly
based on financial success in life. Should all countries
imitate the US in having their own national "Dream"? Maybe
someone has a dream of simply living in a more just society,
with more tolerance, more social support, free healthcare,
cleaner environment, less violence and no firearms? What's
wrong with that? Also, do you think having a big propagandized
national dream would necessarily make people happier?

    > 4- Canadian life specially here in Toronto is to work
    > like a dog until you die.

Aren't all Americans working like dogs until they die too?
Mighty Americans are among the hardest and longest working
nations in the world. What makes you think you won't have
to work like a dog there? I suspect you'll have to work
even harder when you get to your Promised Land. As I said
before, people in Toronto also know how to have fun and relax.
And what do you mean "work like a dog"? For some people
it may mean 9 hours a day, for others it may be 15 hours.

    > 5- This is the worst county for single, professionals
    > like me. I came to this county two years ago and I found
    > out that just about everything sucks in here, first and
    > foremost Canadian mentality.

Why exactly is Canada so bad for single professionals?
There's no worse or better countries for singles. It's
completely subjective. There are single people all around
the world and they all seem to have similar problems.
When you share your life with someone special and close,
it often helps to alleviate depression and change such
kind of "everything sucks" attitude to life.
Also, what exactly "sucks" about the Canadian mentality?
Have you ever dealt with the mighty American mentality?
Have you ever though that it could be your own mentality
that prevents you from being optimistic. Remember,
when two people are looking at a glass filled with 50%
water, one of them thinks the glass is half-empty,
but the other thinks it's half-full. Change your
attitude: think *not* about what you are missing and
what you don't have, but think about what you do have,
and how fortunate you are. Stop complaining, meet someone
special and have a life!

    > 6- if you are an ambitious person this is not a country
    > for you. Go to US instead.

You mean "ambitious" in terms of financial success?
Can't people realize their ambitions in other ways?
Yes, if nothing else matters to you except money, you
should go to the mighty US. But I warn you that the
American reality may not be exactly what you expect.
You have created a colorful happy picture of your
future life in the mighty US, that exists largely in
your imagination. Having your expectations set so high
is a dangerous thing to do for any immigrant in any
country. Immigration is a very difficult enterprise and
with attitudes like this your can quickly become
disappointed and disillusioned in the mighty US,
just like you are in a not-so-mighty Canada.

    > 7- I have 75000 per year salary and a high tech job,
    > but I can wait 'til I'm outta this dumpster.

Buddy, I can't believe how fortunate you really are!
Living like a king in Canada, having all of your
employment and immigration stuff taken care of
and probably even paid for, having good prospects
of immigrating to either US or Canada, both of them
great places for immigrants...
Just tell that to someone who is desperately looking
for a job nowadays, and dare to complain to them about
your "problems" and how everything "sucks"...
I wouldn't be surprised if they think you are an idiot!

I would recommend you read a psychology self-help book,
such as "Feeling Good" by David Burns and get yourself
a brand new life! Do it please, unless you want to
end up living on antidepressants in the mighty US till
the end of your life.

If you want an objective opinion of the typical American's view on Canada, watch the "Talking with Americans" on "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". Says it all really.

it.You are a typical Canadian living in a house of cards, and when it all

Wow...I saw this site on the net and it was hilarious !!! Amazes me
how little people know about their own neighbor.

Just to add to Rick Mercer's comments -
(I am originally from India and all my work mates know about it). One
colleague walked by one day and said...."So you and Sukiya speak the
same language", I replied "NO WAY, He speaks Indonesian or Bahasa,
they don't speak that in India. My colleague replied...innocently,
"But arent Indonesia and India the same country" and this work mate of
mine is a security expert. (Though I did give him a 101 on geography
and history). I am not pointing any fingers, but shows how little an
average person knows.

But no doubt as Rick Mercer says "People here are very Generous and
have a big heart" .....

If you're really so unhappy in Canada why not go back to your own
country? It seems hypocritical to bitch and moan about a country
while living off it's resources! Canada is a wonderful country to live
in. I'm blessed to have been born here and wouldnt have it any other
way. I have many great friends in the US and many relatives in the UK
(my Dad's an expat) and I rather spend my time enjoying other people
from other countries then sitting around complaining about aspects of
the US I don't like and aspects of the UK I don't like.

"Let's check out Canada. After those dumbass terrorists
,which BTW some came from Canada, attacked New York, my departure got
delayed."

They came through Canada and INTO the States! For crying out loud, at
least KNOW what you're talking about before coming on a public
discussion board to berate another country. How about John Walker Lindh
for example. He is an american and he was part of the Al Qaida network
(some how his name seems to be forgotten pretty quickly). It seems
ridiculous at this late date to point fingers and lay blame. It was
damn tragic thing that happened on 9/11 and the only real ones to
blame are Osama Bin Laden and his "groupies".

Canada has done a lot to assist the States. People also seem to
forget the 4 Canadian soldiers killed by so-called "friendly fire" and
they also seem to forget how Canada opened up it's airports and it's
homes to take in the planes that were left in limbo after the 9/11
attacks (Gander, Newfoundland, for example). As far as I can tell,
Canada is just as great a country as the US...maybe not in riches but
in so many other ways.

G'day, all! In a recent article, Les ([email protected]) said:

Ah, yes....of course. Just yesterday, I lost my right to pick my nose
and eat it. Today I heard a rumour that I'm going to lose my right to fart
in my girlfriends' face. Yep...losing rights every day. So glad that GOD
BLESS AMERIKA is just full of those rights I have already lost.

I love GOD BLESS AMERIKA. It's a country where a KNOWN murderer can
walk away scott free without risk of EVER going to trial. It's a country
where you can essentially die at a hospital's door, just because you don't
have medical insurance. Of course, it's a country where death by gun is
about 1000% higher than almost any other country in the world.

I do love GOD BLESS AMERIKA.
