Default Telephoning in Hungary

In the UK there are facilities to make international calls from a variety of providers, where you call a number and then are able to connect to countries all over the world at a very cheap rate: such as Hungary is 1p and 3p, landline and mobile respectively.
Is there anything remotely similar anywhere in Hungary using the local networks? I have tried searching in every language, and can't find anything. Has anyone heard of anything for use in Hungary, apart from using skype?

The thing is with those call providers is that you have to pay to call the number and then you get the cheap rate, so I'm not convinced it works out much cheaper in the end.

If you have the internet you could google it.

I know you said not Skype, but we paid a one off £8.33 for 12 months to get 75 minutes per month of calls to UK landlines. You have to say which numbers you want to dial but we use it all the time to ring people who don't have computers, such as Brians' mum.

Skype is free to download so it works out really cheap all round.

Believe me it is a lot cheaper when I have to call the middle east, america and asia. I use skype in Hungary and the internet has a lot to be desired. Pricey when I have to resort to the mobile.
Would appreiciate if anyone has come across any cheap methods. It would be a great help.

Yes I think Skype is getting very expensive. Last Saturday evening I had a 19 minute call on Skype to a Hungary mobile and it cost me 3.83 Euros. I would have used my landline but it seems to be out of action.

I've never used these devices, but I think "calling cards" are when you're looking for. Armed with that phrase, this came up: http://callingcards.com/shopping/rat...BB9BE5BA6E3169

Like Judybaby I use Skype but also Gmail has a google phone which I think is reasonable. I put 10 pounds sterling credit on it and it seems to last for ages. I phoned a UK mobile the other day and was speaking for an hour, and it worked out about 4 quid...

Good luck with 3G. It is pretty restricted to certain areas. I think 4G will never even get a look in.

One needs an iDevice to use Facetime, and I'd rather get circumcised than become an iDrone.

Samsung (Galaxy S3) all the way!

I have had sim card a long time, when it was necessary for a friend of mine to get it for me. Is it now easier to get another sim card, as a foreigner/tourist, or are there still silly restrictions? Would I be able to say, buy a couple at the mobile kiosk in Tescos's and such like?
Specifically, without registereing at addresses and filling a multitude of forms etc.
