Re: Photos of Hungary
The wrecked buildings remind me...My mother was a very young child in Budapest at the end of the war, as the German forces fell back from the Eastern Front through Hungary. She would, much later, recall to us how her family regularly took shelter in their apartment building's basement every time there was an air raid or bombardment warning.
She would laugh as she pointed out that it made no difference to the terrified souls whether it was Russian or German artillery, or an American air raid!
They were lucky, their building was never hit. But it was an extremely difficult winter...

Re: Photos of Hungary
This project has an exhibition at Buda Castle, photos of Hungary dating right back to 1900, all of which have now been digitalised & displayed in print form. It is a fascinating collection!
Even if you're not in range of Buda you may wish to check out the site.

Lots of the photos were lost negatives which had never been developed so no-one had ever seen or even knew existed. The thank-you letters from people who, through the project, have come across old photos of friends and relatives, are very moving.

Just watched the video for that pic. It's not, as I imagined a dead puli, it's a komondor swimming
