Re: New restrictions on energy usage? KATA Changes?
We (2 adults) used 310 kwh of electricity last month, plus another 50kwh on the night plan for the hot water heater. We do have an electric car which is charged at home, which at the current 480 ft petrol and the 38ft kwh electric prices we effectively pay around 120 ft per litre if it was a petrol car. I guess the good times are over and we will need to reduce the use of the car or invest in off grid solar to charge the car. It will be a good investment if the uncapped price goes upward of 100 ft per kwh.

Thanks for the advice, I am quite happy with the electricity cost for my car as things stand now so never thought of using the night rate (althrough a Hungarian friend did suggust it at one point). I guess when we find out the detail of the new capped rate I may be motivated to take out the screw driver and attach a new socket, it may be quite close to the hot water system wink wink...

A quick search on google shows that there is from Eon an A2 tariff which is designed for electric cars. Currently this is advertised at 32.77 huf / kWh at off peak rate as opposed to 37.73 huf / kWh for the A1-11 tariff ( the one with which you are currently charging your car). It remains to be seen what will happen to the night rate and the A2 tariff after August 1st. Getting an A2 tariff will involve some sort of upgrade cost, how much will depend upon your current set up (and the age of it)

This article from yesterday has the new gas and electric prices :-
https://dailynewshungary.com/governm...e-consumption/
Households will pay 102 forints (EUR 0.25) for a cubic meter of gas for their consumption below the limit, and 747 forints for each cubic metre in excess, while the market price is 1,020 forints, Németh said. One kilowatt hour of electricity will cost 36 forints below the limit and 70.1 forints above, while the market price is 268.9 forints, he said. Separately metered water heaters, operated at night, will be charged 23.1 forints a kilowatt hour below the limit and 62.9 forints above

However if your 10 month usage is 2652 kWh then the new charges will cost you an extra 1870 fts / month

Hello Peter, it is the difference between last years readings and this years. The larger is the normal/peak reading, the smaller is the cheaper tariff that largely comes on at night and the odd times during the day. If you say is correct then I am pleased, thank you.

364 kWh for 10 months is not very much usage fro the night rate. Usually this has the water heater on it and is typically about the same amount of usage as the day meter. What do you have on the night meter? And could you move something from the day meter to the night meter?

And now they want to raise the gas prices................. Right, bringing in the wood burner to the kitchen then.
Electricity wise we have managed to slip in under the limit for paying massive market rates............................
