You may know these as dog days (Hundstage in German) and they just arrived.
My wife is watering the garden at half past five and in the evening I help her.
We're lucky to live near the Danube and have a ground water pump in the garden like all our neighbours so we only pay for the elctricity used.
How's the situation where you live?

In Somogy Megye, I am watering my new trees and hedge plants 2 to 3 times a week. I have some raised bed vegetable items watering 3-4 times a week. Hot and getting dry but surprisingly the grass still growing. My biggest issue is not getting carried away by the mosquitos and white flies. I am using local water supplier water. My well and most of thelocal wells are contaminated by the local septic tanks in the village. I need to have a deep well drilled but it is not a high priority at the moment.

I am surprised - I thought most places are now on main drainage.
However if it wasn't local septic tanks then the majority of 1st level water in Hungary is contaminated with agricultural run off.

The well water will be OK for watering plants and trees and if used for watering veggies then a ground watering system should be used rather than a sprinkler - and veggies washed in drinking water before use.

We are watering every 2 - 3 days at 1:00 am for 2 hours with a sprinkler. Last year I bought a watering timer from Lidl. It switches on at a specified time and for a set duration with options for day intervals from daily to once a week.

Our water comes from a deep level bore hole (it is the only water we have) and all the electricity (including for the car) comes from solar panels. So once the up-front infrastructure is funded - no more monthly bills.

I forgot to say that I had the old well completely filled in. a few years back because the well was starting to collapse in on itself. I was afraid that it would develop into a small sinkhole and damage the fence by the road. It had a bad smell coming up the wellbore.
