If you are going to grow potatoes please consider using Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) (trade name Novodor) as your control for Colorado Beetle rather than a chemical control. Bt is a biological control spcific to the Colorado Beetle. Whilst it does not kill the beetles it kills the lava which is what causes the damage. Novodor is specific to Colorado Beetle and will not harm other insects or pollinators. (For other caterpillar pests there is another Bt strain called Dipel which is selective and effective for other caterpillars)
Sorry no info on King Edward or Maris Piper tats and have not seen them here. There is a potato research institute at Keszthely University that have developed potato varieties suited to the Hungarian climate which of course is hotter and dried than the UK

I've found Desiree potatoes give the most prolific crop. In previous years I've had 100 kgs from around 60 seed potatoes. I also like to grow some "sarga" spuds as they make better mashed potatoes than Desiree. Unfortunately they don't seem to store as well, so you need to use them up quickly.
