Well...while we are at it...here is my little baby. And yes she most certainly does live indoors and sleeps by my bed. In the mornings she sometimes gets in!

Not just in Hungary - in most of Central and Eastern Europe dogs are for outside and people are for inside !

I see that sort of thing here in the UK. The maximum time we leave our dogs alone inside the house is 6 hours and sometimes we arrange for a friend to pop in to let them out.

Ideally we'd like to leave our dogs outside more, especially if we are out for long periods but then we'd expose ourselves to getting a letter from the council if they barked too much. Suffice to say this sort of thing already happens in my neighbourhood and I know whose dogs they are!!!

Guilty as charged our two dogs, shamefully in the UK, sleep next to our bed and the smaller one, springador, can often be found on our bed all night! I've gritted my teeth many times when I felt like I really need a bit more space!

I agree with this bit about leaving dogs outside in extreme weather conditions. Some Hungarian friends of ours have a german shepherd and it spends alot of time outside but in extremely cold weather they bring it in. Suffice to say the dog does have a place to go to if it's outside and the temperature drops which is actually the guy's workshop which is insulated.

I'm not talking about people just leaving the dog now and again, most of us have to do it sometimes but couples who both work full time (or single people) who leave the dog alone 5 days a week. It must be stressful for a house trained dog who has to pee or poop in the house because there is nobody there to let it out.
I agree that it is cruel to leave them out in extreme heat or cold. I tend to take Charlie with me in the car at the moment but I was not doing so in the hot weather. Once I had a section of garden fenced off for him to run around I tended to leave him outside in the summer but he could always go in the barn if it got too hot on the verandah for him.

I don't think she liked the colour of this one as it was chewed to pieces after a few weeks!

There is a waterproof coat for Charlie but I need to collect it from Zalaszántó and I've not had chance to get over there yet.

I've always ordered coats and supplements for my dogs from the UK. I find it easier especially with things like "pills 'n potions" 'cos I like to read the instructions and my Hungarian's not so hot when it comes to all things "doggy"!

I've just ordered the girls smart new harnesses with matching leads which I'm hoping will arrive any day now.

Nice coat! Ellie looks great in doggy clothes but she hates them...which is just as well or I would be one of those people who dress their dog up all the time :-) She looks great in the little Barber type jacket I got for her
