Re: Coronavirus

Someone from the balaton area should be getting in tonight with a address card and a registration card who was refused at Gatwick yesterday
I am hoping to fly in the morning with the same and will report back how I get on
my back up plan is I have a copy of my Hungarian birth certificate that the embassy got for me when they registered my English birth in the Hungarian system
I haven’t applied for my Hungarian ID card yet which they will give me now my birth is registered
should have got it done sooner ☹️

Jetblack, you're right - I have a registration card too besides the lakcim card.
Anywway I'm in Hungary now so a problem could turn up when I try to get to Germany via Austria.
Well, I still have time until May maybe and I hope the situation will be better then..

If you are a German citizen they can't stop you entering Germany and it seems that countries are allowing transits to their home country. But unless the boarder hold-ups have improved from what was shown on the news tonight I wouldn't want to go anywhere. Early days - IMO things will settle down to a new style (different) normal in a couple of weeks.

It is all very confusing ... my residence card doesn't have a photo on it but it doesn't have an expiry date either ... I was under the impression that only those who were citizens or had gained citizenship were issued the version with a photo on it ?
Meanwhile, this from the Guardian ....
"Here is what the Guardian reporter posted from the BUD airport. It appears even if you have residency in Hungary you have serious trouble getting back in.

"Dozens of people are being held at Hungary’s Budapest airport, including the Guardian’s central and eastern Europe correspondent, Shaun Walker, after the country closed its borders to almost all foreigners at short notice on Monday.
He writes: I’m in a room by a departure gate at the airport, with about sixty others in close confinement. They include those with homes, lives and partners in Hungary. It’s a chaotic situation, with people occasionally called for deportation. I landed from London at 1am and it’s now 10am with little sign of progress, despite interventions from the British Embassy and Hungarian foreign ministry.
Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orban announced Hungary’s borders would close at midnight on Monday, with just a few hours notice. On Tuesday this was relaxed to include European Economic Area nationals with permanent residency permits. However most Europeans who live and work in Hungary have only registration cards, the main legal requirement.
On Wednesday, European embassies had been led to believe that citizens with registration in Hungary, who could prove links to the country, would be allowed to enter. But that does not now appear to be the case.
On Thursday morning, an official told those in the transit area they had a choice of flying home or waiting an indefinite period of time, possibly several days, for approval to enter Hungary. He was met with shouts of “This is our home” from several people, as well as complaints about the contamination risk given the close confines of the holding conditions."

Because your "residence card" is actually a "Regisztrációs Igazolás" - a certificate of registration, not a residence card.

Hi Mr.Sunshine
My wife is Hungarian and I have a mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her husband, plus two nephews. Does that count me as being a 'foreign national with Hungarian relatives'? I believe commercial vehicles are the only ones being allowed across EU borders. Is that correct? This is what my removal service company told me a few days ago.

Re: Coronavirus

We moved to Hungary five years ago. I was issued a Regisztrációs Igazolás after 90 days and my wife, a non-EU citizen, was given a residence permit for the spouse of an EEC citizen. A few months ago my wife applied for, and duly received, a National Permanent residence card with no dependency conditions. I attempted to get a permanent residence card at the same time but was told I did not need one and could not apply but my Regisztrációs Igazolás was valid proof of residence. It is clear that this is not the case!

OIF offices have issued a statement updated today: Information for clients regarding coronavirus epidemic

I was one of the fortunate ones
i was let in because I had a copy of my Hungarian birth certificate that I received recently when the Hungarian embassy registered my English birth in Hungary
I was with a few people who they were not letting in. Most had address and registration cards of some type.
They were being told they had to email the chief of police and he was looking at it on a case by case basis
I know of others who have been in the airport 2 days

there was also a Dutch couple where the wife was Hungarian and they had lived here for 21 years and they were not letting the husband in which I thought they would
