I am having trouble interpreting the rules, exceptions etc...

Only a handful if that ex pats have been granted a 5 year visa anyway this has been the case now for over a year, many got a 1 year visa and the rest where or have been given 1 year with 180 exclusion which means we are well and truely stuffed to say the least, if you live here it will be bye bye vienna!!!!

The protests and kick back regarding the visa changes begin!!!!

Has there been any indication made by the IHC as to when this new visa rule is to come in force?

It is very bad for relations, The British and American Governments should act in the same way towards Indians in British and America, send all the Indian Doctors etc back to Indian.

Problem is that our NHS, Hospitals and Nursing Homes probably couldn't function without them.

Bad relations appear not to matter to the Indian Govt. After all they have had all the financial help and handouts from the govts of the Uk and USA, so IMHO we are of diminished use to them now,

I just can't figure out why a state that is so dependant on tourism is so determined to drive tourists away. Not a great long term business plan me thinks.

I agree Remy. Mind you they say the world has gone mad, maybe this is just India losing the plot as well !!

I think they have become so confident in their income from property scams they believe that they can survive without foreign tourists and they have forgotten what it was like before we came. And of course they have the wonderful high spending Indian tourists! Also they are constantly bribed to believe that when the hated FN has left they will all be able to live in posh houses with mod cons etc. They haven't thought about how they will pay for it when they have no income. perhaps they should look at what is happening to the taxi drivers now that the tourist numbers are dropping. Like you say Remey - good business plan.

is it only brits and people from Us affected by this? i have heard it so many times, and i have seen on the italian visa app from it states there must be gaps of 8 weeks, but its never enforced.

Probably because they don't know themselves.

The only way to deal with the rascist attitude of the Indian goverment is with sanctions against their nationals travel and settlement in the U.K.Their latest actions are akin to what happened in Zimbawe.I know they have yet to seize our legally purchased homes by force, but if we are not allowed entry to the country there will be nobody home when they come to take it!
