IMHO a pretty ridiculous question to ask!How on earth would VFS know the answer to that!

At the end of the day it`s in the hands of the Indian Government!!!!

Several of us have reported in detail on this forum and others the obstructive attitude of VFS staff when applying for a one year visa. They have told us face to face that we stand no chance and will not get a refund. In most cases, however, the one year visa has been granted. This has been the case for at least three years.
So why am I not surprised that an anonymous employee of this wretched company is spouting the same old cr*p by email?

Also, for anyone to predict visa conditions nine months into the future, in view of the number of spontaneous changes that have occurred in the last few months...........absurd in the extreme!

There are more than enough things to worry about in Goa, without persisting with this "rumour" of shorter visas, solely attributable to some lazy and innacurate reporting by the Herald a few weeks ago.

As I said at the time, pure Goa-noia........

.

Well said j5
I'll bet there have been more 12 month visas issued this year than 3 month ones (and those are usually double/triple entry visas with re-entry allowed, for people who submitted an itinerary).

I have just got off the phone from the uk speaking to guys from aldona,
returned to Uk to get a new visa, was told this morning the rule has been changed and from the 5 th of january 3 months visa will only be issued and they would have to stay till march, their old visa is still valid and they were told the best thing they could is return and plead their case with the authorities here.... hopefully get an extension...... but that remains to be seen so they are flying home a week early and have spent nearly 2000 quid doing so...

Friends received six months visas, they applied after the 5th January.

So we have mis-information, dis-information, rumour and panic. Great, welcome to trying to spend some quality time in India.

As of this moment, the VFS website is still stating visas up to one year, Indiamike is still reporting people receiving 6 month visas on a regulat basis up to, and including today.

Whilst trying to spend time in India is fraught with difficulties, uncertainty, problems and panic, lets see how this pans out before we all go into melt down, innit?

I checked the vfsglobal home site and it has changed it now states re tourist visas: " may normally be issued for 3 months to 6 months". Previously it was 6 months to 1 year. Of course 6 months can still be issued, but it must be worrying for those full-time in India.

Tried to produce a link and failed. (Not skilled at that sort of thing).

If you type in 'India Visa Information-UK-HomePage', then 'All About Your Visa', then 'Tourist Visa'. 'Who Can Apply'.
Hope this is OK.

Also the wording is ridiculous it will be difficult to have multiple entries with a 3 month visa!

Re: Visa help.

Did all that, but under TOURIST VISA, Im still seeing 6-12 month?
Look, Bipat,

I've even rebooted the computer to try to ensure I am not getting "left-over" information, and I still cant find this "new" information you are quoting.

Please, for the benefit of those you have probably thrown into total panic by your post, authenticate it in some way....................

Yet again we are being put into a blind panic by un-authenticated posts suggesting yet another change to the visa regime...........

Some of us go to extreme lengths to research and check stuff before we post it, others just "whack it out"

At 10 pm UK time, research is difficult, lets hope this latest bit of scaremongering is not just that? Still checking, and will continue to do so. Especially for those trying to survive in Zimbabwe on Sea........

Re: Visa help.

Who Can Apply?
A tourist visa can only be granted to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, etc. No other activity is permissible on a tourist visa. A tourist visa may be issued normally for three months to six months with single or multiple entries and is non-extendable and non-convertible. The duration of the visa is the sole discretion of the Issuing Authority. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue.

See Above: I have just copied and pasted the appropriate paragraph.
Could you confirm you have found it, or am I going mad!!!!

Re: Visa help.

J5 I have discovered the problem if you just scroll straight down through the Info. you still get the 6-12 months. If you click on the side column on 'Tourist Visa' you get the info. which I pasted above. Which is correct ?????

Re: Visa help.

Bloody hell, you really do know how to spread mis-information by "cherry picking " your quotes!

Your latest quoted text relates to those who (think they own ) property in Goa. This originates from the "tourist visa not available to those who own/maybe rent/maybe dont own after all, visa issue.

This is totally separate fom how most British apply for visas.........straight forward Tourist visa to avoid all the confuscations.

Which, incidentally, was what was being discussed on this thread?

And before you ask "why do I have to be so unpleasant"

THINK ABOUT IT

J5 the left hand list is a list of all types of Visas: the first in the list is "Tourist Visa" and if you click on this heading "tourist visa" you get the above quote, one would assume it relates to 'Tourist Visas' per se.
