Very interesting article on HCI London website about how Britain has changed its Residency/Migration Rules in November cheating 49,000 out of British Residency including 15,000 Indian Professionals.
Looks like the indian Government arnt the only ones playing silly buggers.

Interesting though that it is our own MPs and Lords who saying it is unfair, haven't heard a peep from Goan or Indian politicians saying that their own actions against FNs may be a bit unfair. Nor on people potentially being cheated out of their money.

Hi Tony,
I see where your coming from but....
Some of these people are being cheated out of their homes, jobs and livlihoods because our Government has moved the 'goalposts' so i think its a bit more serious than potentially loosing a holiday home in Goa.................which nevertheless is also heart rendering if it ever happens.

The problem is that Remy's one of us as well as one of them and as one of them and one of us he can have a foot in both camps and a voice (which will get higher and higher as the 2 camps move apart
).

Douglas's wasn't a holiday home.
I do understand what you are saying about our Government, I just think that it is typical of our government that they do things and then other MPs (also ours) kick up a fuss in a select committee. Why didn't they do it before changing rules. They are always doing things that cause problems for normal people.

I totally agree with you.
Puts our problems into prospective, but I think Douglas has a fair case for complaint, mind you I think a tourist visa was offered in his case, these poor people might not even get that.
We should pull out of the EU and reform the British Commonwealth on the same lines as the EU.

Yes i agree.......sometimes i wonder are the Governments sort of acting in a tit for tat type scenario though.........the tighter GB makes its visa/residency rules then so will India and vice versa......in which case we're all f*****.

Didn't think that you were, me neither.
The problem with being one of them is that if you are then you become one of us according to them and one of us is one of them if you are one of them looking at one of us

You have a good point there.......although my knowledge of these things is very limited but the whole system in GB seems to be a knee jerk reaction that hasnt been thoroughly thought through............besides does the NHS not need all the Indian doctors and nurses etc. The whole thing is FUBAR.

FUBAR is right.
Indian Doctors, Polish plumbers etc who knows what's going on anymore, if people have a legitimate job and they are good at it who cares where they come from, as long as they turn up on time. Those who can't do the job don't deserve to be in the job and that probably includes most NHS Management/Admin and council workers, where they are from is or should be irrelevant.
