Help if possible, new visa rules.

Friends were not allowed to fly from the UK to Goa yesterday on a scheduled airline - they were told they were not allowed back into Goa until 2 months after they last left, so the airlines are enforcing the rule at present - ignore the rule at your own cost. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Know what you mean, Noni - heart stays STAY, head says SELL ..............BUT.......if there are going to be changes in the offing which will return the visa situation back to what it was prior to December/January then I can live with that. The 2 month gap between visas is a real bummer, but even that may change back.
Hopefully the authorities have realised that their knee-jerk reaction was poorly thought-out and that they are reversing their attitudes bit by bit.
Just a shame they didn't stop to think about the lost revenue to Goa/India by keeping tourists out for 2 months between visas / even between visits. what I spent in London during my "enforced" 2 months out, would have kept me going for over 6 months here.
Back in Goa and ever hopeful
Let's hope Simon and his colleagues keep the impetus going..............

The Goan Gov do not want long termers living here on tourist visas. The Tourist Minister stated in the press a few weeks ago that a 90 day maximum stay should be long enough time to spend in Goa. He thinks we are all on "doles" and that we do not spend enough money here. What they really want is the two and three week tourists staying in the big posh hotels with a quick "turn-about" of tourists bringing in massive amounts of holiday spending money.

I would bet good money that if the Two Month Rule is revoked in the near future, and all the signs are that it will be, we will then see some new half-baked idiotic scheme introduced to deter long stay visitors. And I accurately predicted the present chaotic situation long before it happened too!
If I "owned" property in Zimbabwe-on-Sea I would get out at the first opprtunity, if not, then would hang on and see what happens?
Dont forget that even with the rescinding of the present lunacy, as a property "owner" you are still in visa limbo as the monkeys that run India have decreed that you cannot have a tourist visa, but will not grant you an "X" or any other type unless you have an (often mickey-mouse) business, in which case they will no doubt claim you are breaking the law (you quite possibly are!) and use this as an excuse for confiscating your home.
So those on here who are already celebrating the demise of the 2 month rule a little prematurely, just remember there are plenty more mines left in the minefield just waiting to be trodden on. And thats ignoring any that the bubus are planning for the future..........

MENTAL MICKIE is an appropriate name for this guy.
To come out with these ridiculous statements alone saying that we are all on the "doles". Mickie needs to be made aware that people on the "doles" are interviewed every couple of weeks and must be actively looking for work. Not only that their passports are scanned going in and out of UK airports. So how on earth are they loafing about long term in Goa?
