Twisting things again Bipat - I neither read nor posted in respect of your so called little gems last night.
My comment was an accurate generalisation - nothing more. Some races DO have a more progressive attitude towards female equality than others - that's a fact & I did not refer to india or Pakistan.
As for curing an addiction to this forum, when I don't like it or when it pi**es me off, I don't bother with it for a while - try the same, it works. . . . . . . .(not having a pop - genuine advice).

Been looking for an alternative place to stay over the Winter now for 2 years. Tried Pondicherry and Malibalipuram.Pondicherry is a nice place very small but the local government is completely bankrupt and its expensive for nearly everything from a cup of tea to renting a room.Very little French influence left and The Botanical Gardens depicted in The Life of Pi are over grown with weeds and neglected. There is no beach and swimming is dangerous because of rip tides etc....Malibalipuram was a complete no no due to Mosquitoes, mass tourism and prostitution catering for rich clients from Chennai and garbage every where you look. so next wek we are trying Tenerife again but this time we are staying in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the Canaries to see if its possible to Winter there instead of Goa. Prices on self catering apartments look favourable though when compared to what we pay in Arpora. The rent on our studio apartment is now at 90.000 rps for 3 months but no else stays there though. It will go up to a Lakh this year for sure.Temperature wise it does drop to 12c and can be as high as 20c in January but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages especially health care because being in the EU we come under the local NHS scheme. No visa fees and air fares can be as little as £90 on Ryan Air and its only 4 hours from Stanstead. Some of our friends we meet in Arpora have also expressed an interest because of worsening conditions in Bardez, especially around Arpora and Baga, relating to traffic over crowding and mass tourism invasions. Will let you know how we find things there.

I thought that a PIO card did not entitle you to work in India, something a Goan friend in the UK said.

Hi PJ,
We usually do some travelling when we are over, there last season it was Kerala by train and the previous season we went to Hampi by train (thankfully as apparently most of the bazaar area has now gone) so this season we were thinking of Pondicherry but on reading your post
Could you let me know by either this thread or PM me any costs you can remember in Pondicherry ?
Cheers

Just as I dont find all the Indian bashing that goes on by certain people on here so endearing, I don't find. So we seem to be even.
I was not smug about holding a PIO card until I first said I had one then I was turned into some two horned devil from hell, from then on I have been smug and proud of it.
Get over it!!
Going back to sleep now until time to leave for airport with a smug grin on my face!!
