Default GOOD BYE GOA.

MY friends are starting to come back from Goa now, i keep hearing the same story.
Goa is ruined, more building, filth, rubbish, the Goans are more greedy than ever, shack and restaurant prices shooting up.
3 couples i know, have been long termers in Goa for the last 10 years at least, are calling it a day.
They are also telling me, more and more domestic tourists this season.
How have you all found it????

I've never been to Goa(I have been to India just not Goa)I don't know, the place appealed to us(beaches ect) but just too many western pissheads for our liking! We go away for the cultural experience, not to get totally oblitorated! Its a shame its getting a bad name, the actual area looks pretty good!I guess everyone is heading back to Ibiza!I have been on another forum(to do with India only)and lots of people there are saying Goa has seen its day unfortunately!Too many pissheads!

sorry got to disagree strongly with this statement, i have lived here for 10 years now, run a restaurant and 2 bars and got to be very honest only seen a couple of "pissheads" yes some local bars do get the local pissheads but on the hole westerners are very well behaved and ive never seen a fight.... goa has just had its day due to greed and its not through to much drink.

Sorry but anyone I have ever known who has been to Goa tells me they just go to drink for 2 weeks and party on down!I also keep reading posts on another forum that tells me otherwise, and some of the posters on that forum run bars and restaurants.Maybe you are in the quieter area?

Or maybe its because Poppetjay is actually living there, and has done for 10 years rather than relying on hearsay and other forums. I have also lived there for protracted periods and public drunkeness is nowhere near the problem it is in any British city-centre on a Friday or Sarurday night, in fact its not really a problem at all.

Hi Steve, Yes it is true that a lot of the long termers are giving up on Goa. Mostly I think due to the visa issues. Have not really noticed a huge increase in prices and we tend to use the same restaurants/shacks. As for the domestic tourists - yep they are coming in droves. I will not go down to the beach alone now as they are all out with their camera phones etc. Pity, as I used to enjoy walking from Baga beach to Fort Aguada. I will give it another year and then decide as to whether to stay or go!
