Thats where the BJP should be looking for a leader.
Agree with you , whole party is probably secretly glad if he goes. An old man not willing to let go!!! But-- not in this way, and at this time causing a sensation and trouble.

Tension grips Colva as tourists kidnap minor
10 Jun: Navhind Times. Tension gripped Colva village, on Sunday evening, after an angry mob of over 1500 locals from Benaulim and surrounding areas marched to the Colva police station and demanded that the tourists arrested for kidnapping a minor girl from Varca be handed over to them… police fired tear gas shells and bullets in the air to disperse the angry crowd.....

Congress are happy! Accusing BJP of only wanting "power", isn't that what Congress wants?????

Advani,--- I suppose it was a case of --"If I can't be PM, I will make sure nobody else in the party can be".

The only one of these old fascists who is in any way impressive is Arun Jaitley - very clever but damaged RSS goods (reminds me of Enoch Powell).

.

I am a bit late in coming back to comment on this post. have just finished the book after getting back to the uk and ordering it from the local library.
Very gripping and informative and shocking and sad. yes it is part of a trilogy and I have only read this one which I presume is No 3 . I will now try to get hold of the previous 2 ( even though they are not about Goa).

Zimmler was named author of the year for his earlier book . As for this book it is a very graphic exploration of evil as well as being an excellent factual account of Goa in the 16th century. Not only did the inquisition probably exterminate most of the Jews living in Goa but the atrocities inflicted on the local Hindus and Jains were more than I had ever imagined. I can well understand how the memories of that time survive and are handed down within the families who were affected.

The old Jewish community in Goa was situated in Betim or as it used to named Bethem. Once spent an afternoon wandering around the place looking for the cemetery or a trace of the buildings but apart from a large platform of laterite with some strange arches built into it there was no trace at all of their existance despite the fact they must have lived there for a couple of hundred years. Will look up the book though," thankyou"

If you use Kindle, it is available..........

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guardian-Daw.../dp/1845290917

quite cheaply, as is a print copy.

Simply answering "Guardian of the Dawn" is not adequate as another book by the same name written by William King comes up loads of times in a search, long before the Zimmler's effort.

Know what you mean.......the Kindle is great, but there is something about the smell and feel of a real book, and the way old books were made is almost an art form
