Ive just returned (Tuesday) from Colva after our 2 week break at our appartment. Nothing changed much from March and everyone remembers us.
I like the place as its not nearly as busy/mad as Baga or Calangrot and the beach is fine. Especially towards Benaulim. Many good places to eat and drink and the prices are good. However buying anything from jewellry to clothes etc should be contemplated with care. Prices are higher than the north and bargaining just wont get the prices down to those charged up North. We went to Calangute for our purchases from the Tibetans.
There are still large numbers of dogs roaming the beaches and also around any built up area, at night they howl forever. Also the litter on the main roads is getting worse.
Many Indian families now coming to Colva along with a very high number of our Russian friends.We have been going to Colva for many years now and obviously we like it.It is a nice compromise between hectic and mundane. Plus you can also visit Margao for a real experience!!!!!

It is very unfortunate about the litter problem......will they ever be able to get on top of this?
One can only live in hope!
Any news on the property purchase fiasco?

No news or even rumours on the property front. Just a few Brits in the bars discussing the issue to death. To be honest after the first initial conversation with another couple I stayed well clear of anyone talking about it. I just didnt want our break to be dominated by it. What will be will be is my way of thinking.
I was however surprised that people are still coming over and looking at schemes with a view to buy or lease. They must be mad or very rich to contemplate it at this time. They are still being advised to form company's etc.
It was a nice break and we saw some of our neighbours but I did wonder how long we will continue to come to Goa as the Jewel in the Crown of tourism seems to be being ignored by the powers that be.
Prices rising steadily for everything and tourists being hassled more than ever by sellers, taxi drivers and time share touts. Also the infrastructure is a concern.
Oh well we will see what March 08 brings.

I agree....its changing and not for the better!
Greed is now a dominant force, from the big politicians right down to the poor beggar on the street.
Goa appears to be taking one step forward and two steps back.
You done the right thing avoiding the property debates in Goa and your right.....What will be....will be!
