Has anyone got a new business visa in the past 2 months ?
The reason i ask is that a couple we spoke to had received a new one year business visa in November and the stipulation was they had to register with the Fro even though they were not staying more than 180 days.It does not apply to 6 month visa's.I'm not sure whether they misunderstood or these are new regulations.

Not business visa, but five year X entry visa last August.
The over stamp re "no need to register if less than 180 days" is not there. It was confirmed at the registration office in (Pune) that I had to register within 14 days.
I assume this is a new procedure
Others on this Forum have not believed me!!!!!

There is certainly a lot of confusion about this, but the MHA Foreigners' page says otherwise (Student, Medical, Research and Employment visa holders have to register within 14 days, other long term visa holders only need to register if staying more than 182 days).
That's what it says!

If you look at individual FRO sites the words
"Valid for more than 180 days and do not have a special endorsement of " Each stay less than 180 days hence no registration required etc." are required to register within 14 days.
jcbrum's post is another example of a visa being issued without the special endorsement (overstamp).
Something must have changed!
I had wondered if a clerk had just forgotten to put the stamp but obviously not.
I will contact the Birmingham visa office next week (when at home) and try and find out.

So if your friends go to the FRO then they will probably be told the same thing..no need to regsiter if your Business Visa has the 180 days in it.

The answer was that the endorsement is no longer stamped on any
visas. I assume this includes business visas.
For answers to questions about registration he suggested I e-mail the consulate directly and ask for an appointment or 'phone' interview.
I will do this next week as away from home for a few days.
