Business visa's

Has anyone got a new business visa in the past 2 months ?

The reason i ask is that a couple we spoke to had received a new one year business visa in November and the stipulation was they had to register with the Fro even though they were not staying more than 180 days.It does not apply to 6 month visa's.I'm not sure whether they misunderstood or these are new regulations.

See my posts on 'Visa help thread' pg 67, 996.

Not business visa, but five year X entry visa last August.

The over stamp re "no need to register if less than 180 days" is not there. It was confirmed at the registration office in (Pune) that I had to register within 14 days.
I assume this is a new procedure

Others on this Forum have not believed me!!!!!

With a business visa you have to register within 14 days of entry into country!

Sorry but you do not have to register unless you are staying over 180 days.

There is certainly a lot of confusion about this, but the MHA Foreigners' page says otherwise (Student, Medical, Research and Employment visa holders have to register within 14 days, other long term visa holders only need to register if staying more than 182 days).
That's what it says!

Could it be that the MHA site has not been updated.
If you look at individual FRO sites the words
"Valid for more than 180 days and do not have a special endorsement of " Each stay less than 180 days hence no registration required etc." are required to register within 14 days.

jcbrum's post is another example of a visa being issued without the special endorsement (overstamp).
Something must have changed!

I had wondered if a clerk had just forgotten to put the stamp but obviously not.

I will contact the Birmingham visa office next week (when at home) and try and find out.

They are as ever issuing different types of Business Visa in the UK depending on where and what you ask for..we have a one year with the stipulation that we leave within 180 days but we have a friend who got his one year without that stipulation. We both went to the FRO in Panjim and was told.. we didnt have to register and he did..
So if your friends go to the FRO then they will probably be told the same thing..no need to regsiter if your Business Visa has the 180 days in it.

We have 1 year business visa but had to register within 14days. It was last september and even though I was going back to UK for 2 weeks before xmas I still had to register.

I have just had a phone call this morning from the Vfs Birmingham. They had contacted the consulate on my behalf after I had e-mailed an enquiry regarding the absent endorsement (about stay less than 180 days, on my entry (X) visa). Also questions re registration.

The answer was that the endorsement is no longer stamped on any
visas. I assume this includes business visas.

For answers to questions about registration he suggested I e-mail the consulate directly and ask for an appointment or 'phone' interview.
I will do this next week as away from home for a few days.

It seems that as usual the rules are made up as they go along,we know people who have had business visa's since September but did not have to register.Did you have to supply the 35 various documents that the Fro demanded before....
