Thumbs down Airtel

Are any of you having problems with Airtel?

My balance keeps changing overnight! Could it be a ghost using the phone when it is switched off.

Bit p!ssed off with it now.

They do charge you for those stupid "service" messages if you open them. And they seem to subscribe you to text services that you haven't asked for. I was told that the person you recharge your balance with gets commission to sign people up for stuff whether they want it or not.

Don't know if it will help but we just delete the service message without opening. They are really annoying though.

Try contacting someone here

http://www.airtel.in/wps/wcm/connect.../reach+airtel/

Idea have simple procedures for stopping all this crap that can be activated on-line or by e-mail.
Cant finf any useful info on Airtels website though, so a call/sms might be needed......worthwhile though as once its done, its done!

I had my airtel package for 2 years Rps15/- per day no problems the 4 months ago it changed without my consent and it was costing a fortune like you the balance dissappeared overnight, then i attempted to get the basic package changed, spent 3 hours in the airtel office in panjim, waited waited then they refused to do it on my old number. wonder why
So now have Tata indicom which is fine for what i need, but the new relience broadband is really quick and if you have problems with weak signal works a treat (2 friends now have this, but as usual FN pay more deposit etc)

I posted about this problem last season - when we arrived all the money had disappeared from our Airtel phone about 500rps I think) emailed, phoned, went into the office in Panjim etc and never got anywhere until I sent umpteen VERY rude emails to them. Never did get the money back, well except for 37rps which they said was all they had taken.
Noni will try and find out who I sent the emails to and let you know.
There are internet forums where hundreds of Indian people are complaining about this problem.

Idea are no better - I got 'subscribed' to something called love 360 which is Rs 10 a week. They finally sent a no. to call to cancel but it just said call 3 - which says invalid service.
Finally got details from the phone shop but it involves calling 4444 then hitting no.s to answer questions in Hindi then speaking to Customer ''Service'' who want to know your name, current balance, last topup amount, date and time of last haircut etc etc.
The web page does allow you to block non-Idea stuff but doesn't cut in for 45 days. There's a National Do Not Disturb service (also for Airtel, but same delay)

UP TO 45 Days......

I've done this for many people and in practice it cuts in after about a week maximum

Hiya folks

Whenever Ive had problems like this with my phone I take the phone to a little phone shop in Porbo Waddo, Calangute. This shop is about 200 yards from Spitfire and Fitness Plus gym (at the entrance to some flats called Silverin). The young girl in there is excellent and really helpful in sorting things out. Worth a try I would say as she will actually do the sorting out for you by either text or ringing the helpline.
I used to get charged for those annoying ad texts on Idea but not any maore even though I still get sent them, and she sorted me half rupee text messages.
Hope this helps

Dread - the cheaper the better

noni - must have deleted the emails but will have to sort something out as they have started taking it from ours again today.
Doing J5 instructions and also going to take Dreds advice and going to the shop near to Spitfire. Will let you know what happens.
