I also have one question related to X-Visa. Can you help me out?

Question is:

What is Indian X-Visa? A foreigner child can get Indian X-Visa or not. If yes, then can this Indian X-Visa be converted into student Visa later on. If yes, then what would be the procedure and requirements?

If you & any other person knows anything about this, please help me.

:confused::confused::confused:

Unless you are a PIO you or a child will not get an indian x visa.

It is said - if you believe it - Trapper John (Dog catcher) has just got a five year x :confused:

No other documents, what so ever, were asked for or sent.

some extracts from my current visa:
Name ..... .... ......
Type: X
Date of Issue: 22-Sep-06
Date of Expiry: 21 Sep-11
No. of Entries: Multiple
No of Children .......
Passport No. .........
Tourist Visa. Non-Extendable
Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India for visas valid for more than 180 days.
Not valid for prohibited, restricted and cantonment areas.

There is also a rubber stamp in green which state:
"Stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days."

In my previous 5-year visa, the type is stated as:
X VISA

Hi,
has anyone got a Business or Empoyment Visa - and does it look like this
i.e. Does it still say "Tourist Visa. Non-Extendable"?

thanks - AndyD 8-)#

thanks hemingway, that's what I'd hoped - it looks as if they only use the one Visa sticker and only bother to change the 'Visa Type' entry.
This is interesting because 'the powers that be' seem to be arguing that you can't buy on a tourist visa - in part because it is non-extendable (and that you need a business visa!).

- 8. I will be going to India for work/employment along with my family. Which visa should I apply for? Would my children be able to study in India?
You must apply for an employment visa along with the requisite documents. Once your visa application is approved, your wife and children may apply for entry visas . Your children will be able to get admission in schools/colleges in India once they have been granted entry visas. Note that you have to undergo mandatory registration formalities at the nearest office of the FRRO/FRO within 14 days of your arrival in India if you are planning to stay in the country for more than 180 days.

but check the US site to make sure it's the same!

a_f_d,

So the recent 're-hashed' comments issued from the 'central government/finance ministry' re:FNs purchasing property is yet more potentially inaccurate information/interpretation then? In that:

FNs can buy on a business visa after they have done 182 days (+ the stay for uncertain period bit) - BUT, the relevant visas will, I guess still be stamped 'not valid for stays of more than 180 consecutive days'

More catch 22. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Hi All,

I have just renewed my BV two weeks ago and no mention of Max 180 Day Stay. I have never had one with that particular stamp on it and to date have had about 7 x 2 year BV's, although I have seen others with it on. On my latest there is a green stamp on it stating Registration NOT required if each stay does not exceed 180 days.

Regards to all

John
